Depending on the substance of abuse, the symptomatology of psychological disorders may differ.

Acute intoxication

Accompanied by the use of a surfactant that disrupts: normal consciousness, perception of the environment, reactions and functions of the body. The above disorders are directly related to the direct pharmacological effects of the substance on the human body. Over time, the effects weaken and cease completely;

Harmful use

Single or systematic use of surfactants can cause damage to the health of the body. It is not only about the effect on the normal physiology of organs and systems, but also on the mental state, including: secondary attitude to intoxication of surfactant, depressive disorder;

Addiction syndrome

After repeated use of a surfactant, there is a complex of physiological, cognitive and mental symptoms accompanied by a strong desire to use another dose, despite the realization of the harmful consequences. In the process, the acceptable limits of the substance being used are raised, and withdrawal may occur. Dependence syndrome can be manifested both to one particular substance and to a whole group of substances that have a similar mechanism of action on the body;

Withdrawal

It is a whole group of symptomatic manifestations of physiological and mental nature, it can have different degrees of severity and is manifested as a result of partial or complex withdrawal of surfactants from the body. Also withdrawal can be accompanied by serious psychological distress and seizures;

Psychotic disorder

It is manifested as a whole complex of psychotic disorders, manifested as a consequence of the use of psychoactive substances, but not caused by acute intoxication of the body. It includes: perceptual disorders, paranoia, visual and auditory hallucinations, delirium, psychomotor disorders;

Amnestic syndrome

Characterized by a distinct chronic deterioration of memory for both distant and immediate events. As a rule, distant events are recalled faster than recent ones, may be accompanied by a disturbed sense of time, as well as impaired assimilation of incoming information – a person does not understand what he wants and sometimes can not understand basic things;

Delayed and residual psychotic disorders

As a result of surfactant use, emotions, cognitive and behavioral functions are disturbed. They are usually episodic and short-lived (short-term).

There are also a number of other psychotic disorders caused by substance use.
